As a career changer to the perfect job

KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) and the ifo Institute conclude in their recently published Skills Barometer for the fourth quarter of 2021, it concluded that skills and labour shortages will hamper growth in the coming years even more than previously expected. It is reported that the business activities of 43 per cent of companies are already being hampered by this.

Economists are in agreement: if we fail to boost productivity, economic growth will slow significantly in the coming years. The German economy urgently needs workers and skilled labour to overcome the current challenges.

But how can we bridge this gap? To this end, the SYNERGIE Group has, amongst other things, launched the Global Cross Sourcing programme. As an international recruitment agency, SYNERGIE recruits for the German market through its European branches.

Trending: Further training for a new job

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) recently published an interesting study on this topic: 68 per cent of employees surveyed by BCG across 45 countries say they would undertake further training to pursue a new career. However, when it comes to the time spent on vocational (further) training, Germany ranks second from last – only the Netherlands performs even worse.

After all, the search term „career changers“ has climbed into the top 20 on StepStone.de. And since the pandemic, just under a third of German companies have been hiring career changers from other sectors or professional fields – and the trend is rising.
