Your tasks

  • Carrying out effective and efficient maintenance and repair work on all technical (electrical, hydraulic and mechanical) systems on board the vessel
  • Assistance with towing operations
  • Maintenance of ropes and equipment to ensure they are in good condition and ready for use; proper storage when not in use
  • Assisting the captain and the engineer in maintaining the tugboat and ensuring it is in good working order by carrying out maintenance, repairs and cleaning, both inside and outside the vessel
  • Preparing meals
  • Managing stocks of food and cleaning products and ensuring they are ordered
  • Carrying out security duties where necessary
  • Reporting unsafe situations and actions to help improve safety and raise awareness
  • Regular participation in safety drills

What you bring

  • Successful completion of an apprenticeship as a marine engineer (m/f/d)
  • Valid certificate of competency as a fully qualified deck/engine rating
  • Valid watchkeeping qualification for bridge and engine room
  • At least one year’s work experience as a deckhand (m/f/d) is desirable
  • The existence of valid medical certificates and training certificates in accordance with the requirements of the flag state
  • Familiar with the applicable safety standards and procedures in the shipping industry
  • A commitment to quality, precision and safety in the execution of work
